BACK TO THE OLD HOUSE (BBC)

I would rather not go
Back to the old house
I would rather not go
Back to the old house
There's too many
Bad memories
Too many memories
There ...
There ...
There ...

When you cycled by
Here began all my dreams
The saddest thing I've ever seen
And you never knew
How much I really liked you
Because I never even told you
Oh, and I meant to

Are you still there ?
Or ... have you moved away ?
Or have you moved away ?
Oh ...

I would love to go
Back to the old house
But I never will
I never will ...
I never will ...
I never will ...

An absolutely charming song, with Marr opting for a slightly more traditional guitar part, and the singer contributing very few lines but to great effect. Indeed, the lyrics wouldn't be noticably Moz-like if it wasn't for his insistence on including the bizarre image of his amour idly pedalling by, instigating love in his heart; practically Just William, really.
The BBC version is, in my opinion, far superior to the normal studio one as it brings a real sense of intimacy to Steven's vocals, as if he really was revealing the innards of his heart.
