"Brian Plankton Knew My Father"

Last Updated: Friday, 20 February, 1998

Background

Brian Plankton was inspired by a shop sign, as Xav returned from a John Otway gig in Tring. In the town center is a jewellers called "Brian Planton", but Xav misread it as he drove past. Since he often made up songs whilst driving - or practised existing ones - it quickly formed a rythm that naturally repeated itself.

Xav spent the rest of the journey singing it repeatedly, and adding different harmonies in his head. A few weeks later, after a group outing to the pub, he began singing it in the car on the way back to Joe's. Xan soon got the idea, and joined in with some harmonies, as did the rest of the band shortly afterwards. It is a remarkably pointless and stupid song, but is great when enough people join in.

Brian Plankton Knew My Father

Brian Plankton knew my father,
Brian Plankton knew my father,
Brian Plankton knew my father,
Whoa-whoa-whoa, yeh, yeh.

[Repeat ad infinitum (or ad nauseum)]
