Otway Sites

The Official Otway Web Page

John Otway's official web pages. The best location for up to date tour dates and for merchandising

The Official Otway Mailing List

John Otway's official mailing list - handled through Onelist. This link takes you straight to the archives, where you may also subscribe to the list, should you so desire. Please Note: this is a general discussion list. If all you want is tour info, use the link to John's website above. If you don't like getting several pointless and chatty messages per day, either don't subscribe, or subscribe for the digest option, which will bundle them all together into one message. Note also that you need to go back to this site to unsubscribe - you cannot unsubscribe by sending a message to the list itself. You have been warned.

Cherry Red Records

In case you're not aware of the fact, John wrote an excellent (and hilarious) autobiography a few years back. There are a couple of extracts from it dotted around these web pages - most notably here and here. This autobiography has now been brought up to date, with a couple of additional chapters and some more photos, and is being published in hardback by Cherry Red Records.

Seymour's Big Band Pages

Pages about the Big Band, with plenty of pictures, maintained by Seymour, the band's bassist. Note that you'll need a browser with support for frames at the least - although the pages have actually been optimized for Win '9x and Internet Explorer

Neil Greenway's Otway Page

Yet another Otway page - this time including some RealAudio files for anyone with the necessary player who wants to hear what Otway sounds like

Neil Sedgwick's Otway Pictures

A collection of Otway pictures, taken at gigs by Neil Sedgwick

Otwayish Sites

Attila The Stockbroker Home Page

Attila, for those of you who don't know, has performed with Otway a number of times, and had even written a rock opera with him ("Cheryl - an everyday tale of trainspotting, drug abuse and unrequieted love")

The Sweeney

These are the pages of Rotator, an independent record label whose artists include The Sweeney, fronted by Otway Big Band guitarist Murray Torkildsen, and backed by Big Band drummer, Adam Batterbee.

The Europeans

In case any of you haven't read my review of "All Balls & No Willy", The Europeans were a band from the early eighties who played on this album with Otway, and subsequently toured with him. This link takes you to a site maintained by Tim Glasswell which has a comprehensive history, discography and other stuff.

Marillion

If you've not read my "All Balls & No Willy" review, you may also be unaware that Steve Hogarth, keyboardist with The Europeans, went on to become the lead singer of Marillion after Fish left. This link will take you to the official Marillion homepage, but is really just an excuse for me to make the space to include the following spooky Otway-Marillion connections, most of which were supplied by Claus Nygaard:-

  1. Marillion (though not all the constituent members) come from Aylesbury - as does John (and all his constituent members)
  2. Robin Boult, who used to play guitar for Otway, has been playing for Fish since 1989
  3. Marillion supported Otway in Aylesbury in 1981
  4. Otway supported Fish in Aylesbury in about 1990
  5. Marillion used to rehearse in Wild Willy Barrett's studio in Aylesbury, in 1980-81, prior to releasing "Script for a Jester's Tear" (an excellent album, BTW)

The Haddington Festival

A site all about an annual festival, all in the name of charity, which takes place in Haddington, Scotland. There's a dedicated Otway page, which is somewhat sparse, but does include a couple of photos for the completists amongst you.
