The St. Celia's Day Jams
Saint Celia, also referred to as Saint Cecelia in some texts, is the patron saint of music. In 1990 Xav discovered this fact, as well as discovering that St. Celia had a day named in her honour. Since St. Celia's Day was on the 22nd November, only two days before Xav's own birthday, he decided that it was a day to be celebrated, and what better way than to gather together some musicians, and hold the first ever "St. Celia's Day Jam". The musicians in question went on to become the principal members of The Lovesticks (apart from the "special guests"), and it was decided that since the day had been such fun (if not exactly a musical masterpiece), it should become an annual event. Owing to other commitments, it has tended to waver from it's "official" spot in the diary, and in 1993/4 our record of one St. C's a year was only maintained by virtue of a duo event by Xav and Michelle. Few people realise that the original plan was for the group to change it's name for each recording, only keeping the common form of "Xavier Moonchild and ...". This idea soon wore off (but does explain the names used on the first St. C's tape), but in its honour the band is given a one off name each year for the jam, and each jam is itself given a name. The jams to date are listed below in chronological order; clicking on one will take you to a page with more details:
